Oh, it's 4 rectangular magnets, not 2. Hey, I was nervous. It was my first video. It looks like I'm going to have to make some sort of a clockwork mechanism to keep the wheel in sync. Hey, any help here would be appreciated.

  • By the way, most of my attempts are posted at 101info.org/magnets/ . This is my personal board where I post most of my prototype drawings.

  • a1mint, I'm not looking to be famous my friend and I'm not convinced it will or won't work yet. As far as an external force, how would I be proving anything if I were to utilize something other than magnetism to make a magnetic motor work? The clock work mechanism I mentioned would have to receive it's action from the rotating disk it's self wouldn't it?

  • And by the way folks, I'm not trying to prove anything to anyone but myself here. Just thought I'd place the video here to get some tips from those who had already been experimenting with this.

Back to a1mint's proposal, once I personally am convinced I'll let it be known here second.

  • Just something to play with in my free time.

  • Thanks guys. And yes I expected the ridicule too.

  • How is the miracle coming along?

  • parsontim, will you be the very first person out of hundreds and hundreds of people I encountered that changed his mind on something you firmly believed in?

You'd be the very very first and I will make you famous if you admit that magnet motors are not possible.

  • @neuronstorm I probably shouldn't have used the word 'armature'. I meant the arm thingy.

  • @NotSoOldHippy What part of "as long as you have an energy source driving your armature up and down" suggests that I was in any way suggesting violating the laws of the Universe? Perhaps it wasn't clear that I meant an *external* energy source - not driving it off the wheel itself.

  • Check out - watch?v=us7YB7eiOeQ

You might get some ideas from the video.

  • The only reason it kept spinning when you had the magnet on a stick in your hand is because the energy to keep it spinning was coming from you. You are not going to be able to devise any system to keep it going on it's own because perpetual motion is IMPOSSIBLE.

Maybe I am ridiculing you but listen; what you are trying to accomplish here is beyond ridiculous. If you enjoy playing around with magnets then my best suggestion for you is to go to ThinkGeek and get yourself some BuckyBalls.

  • I gave you a thump up (yes, that was me) for style and guts. Since free energy and perpetuum mobiles ain't possible, how about adding something like a clockwork to make that arm swing? It may turn out to be some nice thingie that some guys might like to put on their desks, like those executive ball-clicking devices and other stuff that's just cool to watch but has no other function.
