Republicans Are "AWOL" For Meeting on Climate Change Bill

As was rumored, Senate Republican members of the Environment and Public Works Committee boycotted the markup of the climate change bill this morning. Only Sen. George Voinovich eventually showed up, and only to read a statement and lodge a complaint with Chairman Barbara Boxer.

Senate Democrats highlighted the use of partisan politics to derail a vote. "During my time in the Senate I have been part of very heated disagreements, but they have been disagreements on the merits, the substance," said Senator Arlen Specter. "But you can't disagree with an empty chair."

Amen raleighl! I say that the Democrats should take a roll call vote and shine on the Republicans. I tell everyone to research climate change. Scientists around the world agree on this issue. There are normal cycles of cooling and warming of the earth, but it is highly accelerated right now. The Republicans would rather shed more of our soldiers blood for oil and keep the Military Industrial Complex alive and well!
