Many people struggling with BPD experience poor impulse control, a lack of control, or self-damaging behaviors. This is my story.

One of the criteria for BPD is experiencing two potentially self-damaging impulsive behaviors. These could include *BUT ARE NOT LIMITED To* alcohol and other drug abuse, compulsive spending, gambling, eating disorders, shoplifting, reckless driving, compulsive sexual behavior.

NOTE: I say this all the time, but I am NOT a medical professional. I don't know why people keep suggesting I am being deceptive, but I am JUST a girl sharing my story. I do not claim to know what is best in terms of YOUR mental health. I always suggest seeking the advice of a professional before self-diagnosing. I share these stories and this information because lots of people can't see a professional, are too scared to go see one, or might be curious to find out on their own first what they may be dealing with. I also don't want people to feel like they are alone. So there's my disclaimer, people who seem to care about such things so much!

  • y did u block me? u really are crazier than you look.

  • @TheRealStinkyface If I blocked you it was for a good reason, probably for being close-minded or rude. And if you're coming here on yet another youtube account to leave a comment about me blocking you... WHO'S the crazy one? Not me! It's my channel and I block whoever the fuck I want :) Bye!

  • Are you in a wheelchair ? Looks like you have your hands on the wheels...

  • @Alisen12 Nah, just my hands on the arm rests of my desk chair.

  • Don't take this as an accusation, but I think most diagnosises of BPD are just examples clinicians trying to pathologize bad behavior done by selfish people.

I think it would be helpful if they went back to calling them "Character Disorders" which imply that these behaviors are changeable by a conscious act of will and are not innate to the individual personality.

I always watch and enjoy your videos and I hope your new year is better than 2011!

  • @sae1095hc one more thing, yes my behavior was bad, and maybe selfish, but my impulse control goes beyond that of a normal "badly behaved kid" and has since gotten better once I willfully decided to get help for it. And yes, I needed help, because I have a true mental illness, it's a struggle every damn day, but I know I am a good person who happens to have some problems that fortunately, can be overcome.

  • I have BPD and I can really relate to this impulse stuff...although mine wasnt shoplifting mine was more the sexual behaviour side of things

  • I get angry and anxious without any reason, is this BPD? It's extremely impulsive. I'm pretty depressed in those moments and could not control them before. Now I don't give a shit anymore so it's not that bad. I just have to make myself care even less, that would be the ultimate solution.

  • I was just diagnosed with BPD, I'm glad that there are other people speaking out about it. I almost lost my life.

  • I was wondering if you could do a video on Histrionic Personality Disorder....been looking at so many videos that were not good....I would LOVE to see your opinion on it...

  • You're a really brave girl. Thank you very much for all these infos, I hope it'll help the people I cherish understand more.

  • Thanks for sharing your experiences. My ex-girlfriend was schizophrenic. We got into heavy drugs and had an unhealthy lifestyle for about a year. Now we're both clean and still friends.
