This is the fourth video in a series that I will be posting, documenting the letters that my father and family members sent home from the Second World War in 1943, 1944 and 1945. Please share your thoughts or own stories with us by text comment or video reply. Thank you for watching.

  • WOW I really enjoy hearing about WWII...its amazing that you have these letters....treasure them forever!!

  • @gilbertblaze Thanks Gilbert. I have so many of these and need to get back into making the WWII videos.

  • These are really cool. Great idea you had, Jim.

  • Thanks Adrian! Glad you enjoyed them.

  • These are wonderful slices of life, Jim... Some things made me laugh and chuckle from our 21'st century perspective, like the radio that's too big to take with you when you move...

  • I know Andy, that radio remark made me laugh also. LOL Amazing what has changed since 1943.

  • I had to laugh about the radio

    :)

  • @CountryComesToTown yeah more WWII vids will be great and also growing back that Goatee :) :)

  • I was thinking about these letters and wondered if there were anymore! And yep...here they were! I think I'm caught up for now...:-)

$10...good thing 10 bucks went a little further in those days! Wow...he didn't have his own bed? I take it everyone just took shifts in the beds too? Oh yeah...those radios were BIG and heavy in those days! I forgot all about that! Thanks for another wonderful walk through history, Jim! :-)

  • What's even more interesting is how people and their attitudes have changed since. Can you imagine what people in that time would say about the war in Afghanistan, or gay marriage, or any of the other issues in the news today? The world and people were very different then. I believe one reason why my dad left this world in 2007 was because he couldn't understand it anymore...

  • We'd all go bonkers for at least the first week.

And everyone's Twitter and Facebook jokes would be completely lost on anyone who didn't travel back in time with us.
