Pretentious? He cut his teeth among the idiots at Warhol's "Factory." I loved Warhol personally, but the suckers he hung with were jerks without an inch or originality about them.
Yeah, Lou Reed is pretentious. Haven't you heard the song "Jesus?" He was/is also very, very good.

Jesus, whatever happened to Lou Reed? Maybe he was this banal and mawkish all along. Not to mention pretentious beyond belief. And that's without mentioning what he's wearing.
