Did Sir Davies know that this piece starts with an ostinato based on the football song "Go Big Red".

Lovely piece of music- one of my favourites. It forms part of the 'Yellow Cake Revue' written in 1980 by Peter Maxwell Davies in reaction to a government report into the efficacy of mining uranium from a site near Stromness on Orkney (yellowcake being the semi-concentrated form of uranium oxide refined from the naturally occurring uranium ore- typically 80% uranium oxide content). This is a great version- the LAGQ are a top talent and their performances are never less than sublime.
4 hearts combined into one gorgeous heart tugging symphony. Simply awesome.
