I learned how to pick a lock finally last night, after owning a small lockpick set for a few years with no luck (never really tried all that hard). I know about bump keys, but I've always wanted to know how to do it the old fashioned way (which wasn't old fashioned until bump keys got famous just recently).
This is my 16th picking of this lock, all within the last 2 nights. I'm using a rake pick here, which is sort of a brute force method of vibrating the pins, with a small bit of finesse thrown in to aid in trapping the upper pins, and letting the lower pins fall. Minus the time before and after actual picking, it's about a 15-second job. I'm curious to see how I'd fare on some other locks now that this has become pretty easy.
Also, this was nowhere near as loud as the video makes it sound. My camera picks up, and magnifies all manner of inaudible frequencies.
thats raking not picking

How Long Have You Been lock picking??

That was the 2nd, or 3rd day. But everyone else is right... it's not picking. What I'm doing there is 'raking.' I actually haven't managed to 'pick' any lock yet, though I haven't really tried again since this video.

You're right. It's the first lock I've picked, but not the first time I picked it. If you read the description to the right of the video, I note that it's the 16th time I've picked it.
