@spectrumdweller yeah, i remember that. it looked to me like he did it because he was conflicted. he wanted to do the right thing so he took the job, but he didn't want his supposed friend to think he was a jerk either. he made a bad decision. it took him a while , but he realized he did eventually. with the whole direction that the show went, you could say he died early on because he realized what he did wrong and came to terms with it before any of the other characters.

Everyone on the plane had done something bad(or something near it). everone on the island did something to make rescue(near it?) almost impossible. charlie had to be one of the best characters to me. he died a hero

video is slightly disappointing as it shows the flashforward of his death with the arrow to the throat, but not his actual death from the grenade explosion under water
