My little, extremely amaturish, but kinda sweet (I think?) response to CandyKo and Ningyko - for the love of the song and my childhood memories of Japan...

  • I don't know how you've done it but you've made a "sad" song sound so happy. It is a beautiful song and you do it well.

  • @patron40silver

Thank you! The lyrics are about how he is trying very hard not to be sad...even though he's broken-hearted. It seems he's encouraging himself to move past his pain, so I've always felt there is a great deal of courage and optimism to the song. Maybe that's why my version sounds happy. Well, that, plus maybe that I just love the song so much it makes me happy? Anyway, thank you again! :-)

  • I'll be in living in Tokyo for 3 months this fall...maybe I will learn a new song that I love as much as this one...and I'll finally do another one. Maybe I'll even be brave enough to try karaoke for once! :-)

Thanks again to the many people who've written such sweeeeeet comments! You are all very kind.

  • Still one of my favorites ever on youtube, and you have a very infectious smile..

  • What a compliment. Thank you!

  • @HummerRock

Thank you! I continue to be amazed at how much my little version seems to resonate. It was done on such a whim...and I don't sing....I don't even do karaoke ever.....so I guess you all must somehow be seeing my love for all my Japanese memories in my song... Anyway....Thank you, again!!!

  • I think your japanese is very, very good! This has recently become one of my favorite songs, ofc I had heard it lots of times before but never stopped to listen you know.. I think you sing it very well and your charm really shines thru!

From your name I gather you are part swedish?

  • I lived in Hiyama beach in 1962. The Japanese people were so wonderful to my sister and I. It seems like Japan made a great impression on you as well. I wish I would have been there long enough to learn the language as well as you did. Great job on a beautiful song.
