This is another hip hop snare I created that I use often on my DS-10. I use a delay on this snare too, as it helps the snare stand out a little more. The snare edited in this vid is under the DRUM EDIT and not patch edit. For those who have been curious, the reason I do not create my drums under patch edit is so that I can still have 2 synths parts for patterns (one for bass and one for lead/solo).

  • Another great music app for ds is jamsessions. It pretty much like korg ds but instead of being a synth, it turn your ds into a guitar.

  • HA! I got that one too :) Yes.. it's a very cool little app for the DS. Nice to use when I don't feel like playing my real acoustic. I hooked up the JamSessions directly to a Fostex 8-trk digital and was very surprised by the results! Actually sounded like a real acoustic guitar and sat well in a mix when I added drums and bass.

  • Mmmm, nice snare! With a small amount of tweaking this could be a good clap too. Keep meaning to upload some of my own patches this way.

  • Thanks man..., yeah it could almost be a clap. I have a clap that I made too. Maybe I should post it. The clap is HARD to do on the DS-10.

  • Yeah it is. I've always struggled to make good clap sounds anyway. There is a guy with the user name korgds10 who is uploading lots of ds10 patches, his clap is pretty good.

  • I've seen his vids and have talked to him privately too :)

  • Got it too :) I like to loop it with the Boss RC-2 then use DS-10 for the hip-hop drums from you then use the Micron for some effects and leads. Great fun to use jam sessions! By the way this is an awesome addition to the hip-hop kit I got loaded in the DS-10. thanks

  • Thanks! It sounds so much nicer in a mix too.

  • Hey ya that's sweet, good way to pump up the snap.

  • It sits MUCH better in a mix. If you notice at the start of the vid you can see on the mixer screen that I have the snare vol at max. I did that for the purpose of the vid.., and my camera's cheapo mic put a lot of high end on the audio. Once you add a bass line and lead part and balance the mix out by part it sounds better. This is one of those snares that sits well within a mix rather than a showcase patch. Maybe I should post another vid with me using this snare too :)
