@nn8nn That's absolutely correct. But my point is: you have to differentiate between the DJ Software (Traktor, Serato, etc.) and the MIDI-Controller. The Controller runs perfectly without a soundcard (that's what you asked for). It runs with everything that understands midi. For example you could control an external soundmodule (e.g. an 80s synth) via a sequencer - therefore you don't need a soundcard at all. DJ software on the other hand won't play a sound without one. ;-)

@TheAlipimp computer built-in sound cards can't really handle the abuse by softwares such as traktor, serato n such..and without a dedicated audio interface, you cant monitor through headphones..and you don't have rca-Outs/ins...how do you dj without them?...ive learned some bits since 6 months ago..

@nn8nn Why is everyone asking if you need a soundcard to run a controller? Do you guys even know what a Midi-controller is? If not: google! If you do: think about it again: Sound - Card = a card that gets you some sounds out of your Computer... When you want to hear something - which I'd prefer while mixing music - yes, you need a soundcard. In case you're happy with watching the colorful Waveforms, you don't need one... w t f
