Geoff McQuilkin, the Mono Lake Committee's Executive Director, says a few words about the media buzz surrounding NASA's discovery of a bacteria in Mono Lake that can grow using arsenic instead of phosphorus. Thanks to our efforts to save Mono Lake starting in 1978, the lake still exists and is available for scientific discovery.

I am no expert in DNA and the discovery does not surprise me too much. I am very happy for the find. I hope there are more "committee's" for other unusual places on earth, because I have a feeling NASA, etc. will be finding many other great discoveries. Technology FTW!
