I had a go at playing this from memory - as you can see I'm not quite there yet!! I would love to hear your comments, especially ways I could improve.

  • Try counting/thinking it in 6/8

  • it is really hard not to play this piece faster than supposed to... you did a good job though

  • mamma fai schifo

  • You need to be more careful with your breathing and count more. It was too fast for my liking.

saying that i liked the sound you got out of the flute =]

  • nice but you should try to watch your breathing and play it at the speed its supposed to go. i played this at my school concert in sixth grade. nice job though

  • Nice tone but try to be more steady and watch your breathing to have it sound smoother without cutting off the phrases. I suggest that before you play any music at all , that you mark all the breath marks in the places that won`t disconnect the phrases. Also , try adding more musical expressions like dynamic contrast to make the song more lively. Be creative ! Wow , this feels weird giving feedback when I'm an amateur ... grade9 haha

  • nice upper register. uhh, i could say um..Hold ur flute higher because air is leaking, it will also improve the sound of the lower register. Breathe deeper, and i think playing slower helps.

  • FYI, some of the best flute players in the world are men.

  • very good. not much to comment on that hasn't already been said.

  • Nice job. Watch Nina's videos on articulation. You have such a nice sound and vibrato, but you waste a lot of air when you articulate. Jeanne Baxtressor also has this on her Orchestral Excerpts CD with commentary, which I'd be glad to share this track with you if you're interested. Her words and suggestions are wonderful, not to mention her interpretation is just gorgeous.
