From what I've read you are supposed to roast the bamboo over a heat source to get the resin out and then leave it in the sun for 4-6 weeks, then store it in the shade for 3 years min.
wish i had seen this video 4 months ago, but what you do is dry it Out of direct sunlight, either standing upright or flat, another way with very thin bamboo is to store it in some oil*the base only not the whole thing, so the natural oils get replaced with cooking oil* after it has been cut and dried for about 2-3 weeks, for 2-3 days
this is what i do and i by no means am i professional
