frazier RIP, and second of all the man deserves much more respect....his career aside he made Philly his home..... Bernard Hopkins, Rocky Balboa, Will Smith, Kurupt, Beanie Sigel, the Phillies and the Eagles woot woot. what more do u want ali was my fav growing up but hes just an arrogant ass now that I am older. how the fuck do u call another black man whos in the same business as u an uncle tom? this guy took that black power shit way too far

"the other type negro" probably was a reference to the fact frazier had a strong work ethic. That turned off the whole hippy generation.
-
"He's worse than you to me" talking to the white reporter. That shit was uncalled for, just lost a lot of respect for him.

The "Thrilla in Manila" documentary is a movie just to discredit Muhammad

@lwmson yeah and a lot more than that...

@AIMANALI Yeah, you're right. That documentary criticizes Ali for calling Joe a UT, but what it doesn't point out is that Joe--similar to Patterson and Terrell- would intentionally call Ali "Clay," and Ali REACTED by calling him an UT. Frazier even wrote an autobiography where he refers to Ali as "Clay" throughout the whole book. Because it was written in the 90s, a time when Ali's name change had been accepted by the mainstream, he did this as an obvious show of disrespect.

I am sick of this - Frazier was equally insulting to Ali MANY DO NOT KNOW THAT - the difference was that Frazier took it to heart and Ali did not seem to care. Ali made fun or Frazier and Frazier said things like : I do not care what happened 400 years ago - Clay does and look what it got him (the exile)....and on and on...This Frazier was a victim BS is a product of the last 15 years - pure media BS.

I'm sure Frazier loved Black people and his family..but as a celebrity and friend, Ali expected him to use his public platform to speak out more and take a stance on Black people issues. I'm sure Ali and Joe had private discussions on social issues to lead Ali to his conclusion that Joe was playing the Tom.

Truth is Uncle Toms don't know that they are Uncle Toms..so when someone point it out, it Surprises and Hurt them..because they feel their way is the right way to Success..and they ain't hurting nobody.
In Joe Frazier case, Ali meant he wasn't speaking out for Black people or taking a stance. He was doing it the Hollywood way, without getting dirty. Ali called him out.
All Athletes are Joe Fraziers today--disconnected from their communities. too much money.

@JohnnyTRex99 Norton didn't do anything Ali didn't do, sure Norton was being aggressive but that was it, you can't just win rounds for being aggressive. It would depend on the judge, which probably decided the fight. Again, Norton didn't do enough, Ali clearly won a close decision. Simple as that. Most people score it 8-7, 8-6-1 for Ali. Can't blame people for saying Norton won it but the whole "he was robbed" phrase in boxing has become VERY cliche...Norton was not robbed.
i feel sorry for fraizer, he never got the praise u know, the praise that george foreman and ali got, even though he beat ali on one occasion and has only lost to foreman and ali, eaisly 2 of the most dominant fighters in history..

Joe maynot have had the prestige that Ali & Foreman had. But when you think of Ali. Fraizer is the first to come to mind, then Foreman. Even though Norton actually in a sense could've won both fights against Ali. We really never put Norton in the parameters of being the top at that time. The war, or words of being a Tom, by Ali. Smoking Joe is respected and alway will be! Nuff Said!
