A guide for beginner-intermediate surfers transitioning to faster, bigger, hallow and pitching surf. The main idea being that beginner surfers rarely have easy access to larger consistent easy waves either due to crowded lineups or local surf quality. This means that they will need to learn how to deal with late takeoffs and larger fast pitching close out waves to be able to progress safely. This will require ability to paddle and take off with proficiency in less than ideal conditions and locations.
Video illustrates the proper body placement, weight transfer, popup techniques, hints, training equipment that I found very useful for my own transition.
Shows several variations on the one-step pop up/stand up. Basics, hints and secrets. Ideas on proper surfboard selection for the task
Indo Board and real surfboards (both shortboard and longboard) used.
If you have access to consistent clean waves, chances are, you don't need this video. Unfortunately, many of us don't get too many chances to practice and get it right. This video can save you a lot of time in that case.
