@AMT906 It seems pretty obvious that the load was too heavy. He couldn't have just gone straight up, didn't you see that he tried that before stalling back into the water.

and to be more clear - this is the only way to escape from the heli in the water. Blades will start to spin too fast, when they are under water(no matter engine off). this is the the right way! If he didn't broke the main rotor, probably all will be dead
