IC 6071 with UP 5090 and 1852 at Gorham
6071 started out as SD35X EMDX 434, a test unit for the 645 prime mover built on a SD35 frame and also the new SD40. Technically the very first SD40 ever produced. This unit had just turned 40 years old and was leading two newer units, a SD70M and B40-8.
*UPDATE As of 3/20/09 the 6071 has officially been retired by CN.
6071 was the first sd40 ever built, was originally a demo unit that was aquired by the gm&o rr in 1966, originally # 950

Thats cool, we were just out the other day and saw EMD SD-40-2 (first one produced) on a cranadian national train at stanely yard. I have pics on my wifes phone of it. It was working pretty hard trying to make up for those frogs C&N engines
