Kinney is actually not a breeder...she's a pet we've had for seven years. She has no mate. It just so happened that she got extra hormonal at five years of age and decided to lay a clutch (unfertile of course), in the bottom of her "sleep cage". She has a regular big cage for day use. I let her keep the eggs and sit on them for as long as she wanted, (hence the strange box rather than a proper nest box). She hasn't laid any eggs since this particular time.

She was named after the most gorgeous glacial lake I've been to in the Rocky Mountains...Kinney Lake. The colour of her is the same colour as the water that pools from the mountains.

this happens with my lovebird sometimes, I've found that as long as I keep out anything that she could possible turn into a nest she won't get hormonal and lay eggs. But they sure are the cutest dam things on the planet when they're trying to look scary while they're all fluffed up on their little eggs aren't they!?
