This clip contains three different variations of the Neon Mickey Walt Disney Home Entertainment ident, all taken from Betamax copies of Walt Disney Home Video products.

The Neon Mickey ident was introduced in 1978 coinciding with the Walt Disney Company's ventures into home video for LaserDisc through MCA DiscoVision and, in 1980, on video cassette rentals through Fotomat on both VHS and Betamax.

The Neon Mickey logo would be used until about the mid 1980s on LaserDisc, CED VideoDisc, Beta, and VHS releases from Walt Disney Home Video.

1. Blue warning Neon Mickey, taken from "Goofy over Sports"
2. Red warning Neon Mickey, taken from "Dumbo"
3. Neon Mickey with previews, taken from "Cartoon Classics Volume 4"
4. Red and white warning Neon Mickey, taken from "From Pluto with Love"

  • If you listen closely you can hear the music from the Neon Mickey logo's music begin to play at the end of the "private use" bumper, before the actual logo begins.

  • @Childist2

That may be due to magnetic print through, which can cause a pre-echo of the audio.

  • Walt Disney?...WALT DISNEP!!!!

  • @MichaelOKeefe2009

Well, for the newer way the Walt Disney signature is written, the loop in the lowercase y does make it look like a p.

  • 2. Red warning Neon Mickey, taken from "Dumbo"

Was seen on my copy of the VHS version of that title. Other titles with this warning: One (EXTREMELY RARE) version of 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea, Tex, Trenchcoat (without the Neon Mickey logo), The North Avenue Irregulars, Tron.

  • @WARRENCOOK1995 SUCKS!

  • @randomtvandmoviejunk

    I don't know.

It's certainly possible the "Home Video" variant may have been used in LaserDisc releases.

  • @ryanasaurus0077 I used to since I was a kid that the "Neon Mickey" scared the bejeepers out of me. This was on par with the "S From Hell", "V of Doom" and the Paramount TV logos.

  • The red/blue FBI screens at :54 can be found on my VHS copy of "The Devil & Max Devilin" and the orange FBI screens at 2:14 can be found on numerous VHS copies of "Babes in Toyland", "Davy Crockett King of the Wild Frontier", "Davy Crockett and the River Pirates", "The Great Locomotive Chase" and "Limited Gold Edition 2: A Officer and a Duck".
