If your going to be changing your line out, When you get home, First put on a lure you get the most casting distance possible, After you make the cast pull out 5 to 10ft of extra line, and put a piece of paper or a leaf under the line and reel your line back up, With Mono & Fluorocarbon you can mark the line with a sharpie marker, This will give you a close to exact point to cut your line and re tie new line to the old, Saving you $$$ on line...

This is something i do regularly and it saves me alot of money every year. Plus its a cool little trick i use to gauge how much line to remove.

  • why dont you buy a spare reel and reel the line on the spare reel so you get double the line useage

  • @jeffax123 I do that sometimes but when you cast out at the end of the cast you get the worn crappy part and it stinks when it snaps with tons of line out.. :(

  • you should flip your line

  • @Moe7133 I been doing this for years and never had a prob. Also listen to what i say!! Get your furthest Cast with a lure that you get the most on then strip some out. Then retie to that.

  • @jooleyen It's not that good of a tip. My reason is that some day's you cast farther then other because of wind condition. If I fish with a 5-10mph wind, I get at least an extra 20-30yard difference more. Also, you don't want knots sliding through the rings. You might get a snap and you'll feel really crappy.

  • what line is that?

  • Damn good tip. Thanks for sharing. Nice reel by the reel; great choice.
