- Here I show how to connect your lead rope to a rope halter. NO Buckles on lead rope or halter. This is a simple way to attach your lead rope so you can ride with a rope halter and rope reins. It ties strong and unties easy. If you know how to ride with one rein then you will not worry about this knot coming off. It may not look strong but it is very strong. Hey Rick, can you please tell us, how a good fitting rope halter looks on a horse? The owner of the horse I care about sais that his rope halter doesnt fit him (because some guy told her...) so I'm actually using a "fancy" soft halter with buckles and snaps... and he is that kind of horse that already learned that it can break free when it pulls.

Anyways... it's not my horse so she is the one who decides but it would help me a lot if you could explain how a rope halter fits correctly. Thanks!

So Glad you made this. Today was the first day i put my hackamore away (which i started riding in after i started watching your videos) and i tied my lead rope into reins. Surprise, surprise- rick was right again! my horse has never flexed so softly before!! its like our minds are linking up!

rick i watched a video of some other lady talking about rope halters. i have ot say ur definetely right. "see this all wrong and my halters are right and cus they're rope they are the best, and look at this one its pink". blah blah blah. i honestly believe this is the only natural horsemanship chanel on youtube that focuses on the horses well being instead of buy my pretty rope halter and jerk on its lead cus its rope it wont hurt it and its pink so its ok.
