This is a live studio outtake from a standards session that involved Ella Fitzgerald. However, in the midst of all this they cut this groovy number!

This isn't as good to my ears as the version on the Wait A Minute LP from 1973 featuring Sigi Schwab but its gold dust all the same...

The version here has Dieter Reith on Hammond, Philip Catherine on Sitar, Art Farmer on Trumpet, Ack Van Rooyen on Trumpet... probably the usual Herbolzheimer regulars too... (maybe the 1974 Live at Ronnie Scotts band).

  • your videos are awesome!!!!!!

  • Ta!

  • Tha Bomb! I just bought the "Waitaminute" LP on a LP convention just because of this Funky tune but the whole LP is so Great!

  • The key tune on that LP is Greenwitch.... to hear a live version of that tune would be the dogs bollocks...

Art Farmer did record it on an obscureish release though... not as good as RC&B though... ;-)

  • The "thing" which I used by that time was called "compact phasing" and had been developed by a little german team which doesn't exist anymore. It was an experiment. Normaly I used 2 leslies during ny time with the RHYTHM COMBINATION & BRASS. Today only 1. Roadies are too expensive.

    Dieter

  • Sounds Good!

  • 70's porn! love it! #lol

  • Can anyone tell me which mikes are used on the drums?

  • 1:36-1:59 is pure heaven.

  • Danke für diesen Top-Ausschnitt. Spitzen Leute. Mehr davon!

  • Peter Herbolzheimer's Rhythm Combination And Brass ... Funky Leftfield big band with snappy band name. Check out the majesty of Dieter Reith's Monkian Hammond Cool.

  • To my ears, this sounds like what I had thought, until now, was a unique groove laid down by the band CHASE, which also featured 4 trumpets, a wild synthesizer guy and a rhythm section (no sitar, though). The only huge difference was that the incredibly-talented leader, trumpeter Bill Chase, would be taking the lead's part UP AN OCTAVE throughout the entire piece!

Still, this is a fantastic tune, played by some of my favorite jazzmen, & I thank you, OrangeFunkyDude, for turning me on to it!!!

  • Peter Herbolzheimer died last sunday. RIP

  • Ich hab' Peters Musik gekannt, seit ich denken kann - mein Vater war Musiker - und jetzt fehlt regelrecht ein Stück aus meinem persönlichen Soundtrack... Groove on, R.I.P.!

  • RIP Peter Herbolzheimer :(
