Local artist and calligrapher Dan Smith reads from the poetry of Du Fu, a classical Chinese poet from the Tang Dynasty. Smith also reads a poem in Chinese of his own composition, and explains the formation of some of the characters, with displays of his own calligraphy. Peter Camarda, Host of "A View for You," interviews Smith, and then recites two poems for contrast: Walt Whitman's "We Two Boys" and Wordsworth's "Westminster Bridge Sonnet."

  • Thanks for the comment. Imagine learning to speak a language when there’s no one to talk too. That’s why my sounds are so malformed. Did you understand my own poem? I’m glad you were able to read my characters.

  • OMG! He reads the poetry with terrible accent! If I don't read the text I won't understand what he is saying!
