A news story shot in Sunnyvale in October 1982.

It outlines Atari's comeback into the video gaming market in America in 1982 with the then-upcoming Atari 5200 Super System after producing computers for a number of years.

Also, prepare to laugh at the end of the video ;D

  • You can clearly see some NES games for sale, this is not 1982, because the NES was released in 1985.

  • Actually the XEGS came out in 1987 so the video has to be more around mind 1987. Mega was also released in 1987 as well...

  • i think this was from at least 1987

  • @autisticotakugirl ET is an OK game. Stop listening to other people. Try "plumbers dont wear ties' on 3D0

  • This was NOT 1982. The ST had not been released yet plus they showed the XEGS and 2600 JR. I'd put it at 1986

  • This was NOT 1982.

  • Wow! This was like right before the infamous video game crash of '83. They had no idea of the disastrous results that would ensue after they released the Atari 2600 game for E.T. which has also been considered the worst video game ever made. That game was so horrible that they actually took all the remaining unsold copies of it and buried them all in a landfill. No joke! Don't believe me? Just google it or look around YouTube as there are a good number of videos about it.

  • This is definitely 1987, closing in on 1988. Greg Pratt, Atari 7800, Atari ST and XE Game Systerm come from that time.

  • Ok, I looked into it and it would seem this is from 1987.

The new console they are refering to is the "XE Gaming System" which was basicly a repackaged Atari 65XE home computer.

This explains the refrence to Flight Simulator, Atari's booming buisness "6 years ago" and their big quarterly losses "3 years ago." (the video game crash of 1984)

  • Why do the show an Atari 7800 and 2600 Jr. (at 2:26) if this is 1982???

The 2600 Jr. at $49.95 and 7800 at $89.95 with the Atari ST coming out? And recovering from a video game crash? This seems more like 1985.
