There are very few games that have made as much of an impact in a level intro than the Brinstar opening - riding down the elevator, and slowly hearing the music grow louder and louder as the landscape is revealed.
So awesome.

When i was like 4 or 5 years old, my mom brought me to a toys r us where i played this game for the first time. It was one of the first games i've ever played, and to this day it's still one of my top 5 or 10 favorite games of all time. ill never forget how much fun i had playing this game through the first time. i wish games were like this today...

Best game ever. I could play this through this game every day, and I do almost every week. So much replay value, this game rewards you over and over for knowing the game better, the amount of tricks and shortcuts is mind boggling. This game had everything, simple yet touching story, great game play and controls, great sound track.. did this game do anything wrong? This is where games fall short now adays, almost no reason to play em again, when this game tells you your time, challenge accepted

This tune is totally burned into my mind. One of the greatest classic games ever, underlined by one of the greast soundtracks.
Super Metroid is such a superb game, that the replay value is enormous. Even today. Masterpiece.
