Greenberg Quinlan Rosner publishes social survey results

Greenberg Quinlan Rosner, a global leader in public opinion research and strategic consulting, has published the results of social survey in Georgia. The poll was held from September 28 to October 2 2010. The organization interviewed 1200 citizens of Georgia face-to-face, 54% of which said that they would go to the polling station if the elections were held in Georgia tomorrow.

-67% of the interviewed citizens have answered that they support the direction of president Saakashvili and the United National Movement. 28% has different point of view.

-Saakashvili`s job approval question got positive answers from 83% of the interviewed citizens. This is the highest percentage since 2004. 15 % disapproved Saakashvili`s work.

-Approval of constitutional reforms/seen/heard about meetings. When questioned `based on what you know, would you say you favour or oppose the proposed constitutional reforms, 76% of respondents who heard about the meetings answered `yes`, those who were not informed about the reforms answered `yes` and this is the 37% of the respondents; 10% has disapproved the reform.

The poll put questions about two main opposition leaders. When questioned which two opposition leaders they viewed as the main leaders of the opposition at present, 47% answered Giorgi Targamadze, Christian Democratic Movement, 40% - Irakli Alasania, Our Georgia - Free Democrats; other leaders had the following percentage of support - 22% Shalva Natelashvili, Labour Party, 11% - Kakha Shartava, National Forum; 9% - Levan Gachechiladze - Georgian Party; 8% - Gogi Topadze, Industry Will Save Georgia.
-62% of the respondents approved the activities of the opposition and 25% - disapproved.

The job approval question for Tbilisi mayor Gigi Ugulava only in Tbilisi had the following answers:

On the day of the mayor`s election, his rating was 74% and according to the recent poll, 75% of the respondents approved his work.
21% of the respondents disapproved Ugulava`s activities as mayor.
