http://lofi.tv - Sam Amidon performs a banjo riddled version of As I Roved Out at Greenhouse Studios in Reykjavik. The session also featured a variety of musicians who were in town to perform at Bedroom Community events during the Iceland Airwaves 08 festival. Joining Sam in the mix are Valgeir Sigurdsson, Shazhad Ismaily, Sigridur Sunna Reynisdottir, and Helgi Hrafn Jonsson.

Shot and edited by Stuart Rogers with sound recording and ruff mix by Sturla Mio Thorisson.

  • @jonathan4bama That dude's Shazhad Ismaily and ,well, let's it put this way - his looks isn't important when one listens to his music.

  • @mamothmanX dude... my comment was a reply to someone else who has since deleted their comment. Thats "WHY." The questions is... why do you care? Relax man. Youre at a 10 and you need to be at a 2.

This is why youtube is retarded. People get so bent out of shape over a comment that has nothing to do with them. Relax man... everythings ok. I assure you there are worthier causes to get mad about. Poverty, lack of food/water, AIDS, etc. Relax.

  • @HalfManHalfAwkward um what. dude first sufjan probably couldn't play banjo like this guy, second singing is nothing alike third this song is an old folk song, sufjan doesn't play older folk songs fourth this dudes parents a re folk musicians he grew up playing irish fiddle and folk music. WHY?

  • his clawhammer-esque(?) banjo playing is amazing. so impressive live - great sound.

  • Fantastic banjo! As for those who are somewhat thrown for a loop by Amidon's vocal stylings, it might help you if you can get your hands on recordings of his younger work, when he was singing with his parents and brother (under the name "The Amidon Family")--there you can hear that he is perfectly capable of singing not only in tune, but pretty conventionally as well. It's obvious that he has decided to go in a different direction now and purposefully stylizes his singing.

  • @jonathan4bama

  • does anyone know how hes tuning his banjo??
