5 years On Stop The War

TAKE THE POWER BACK!!!!

This is a compilation of clips I filmed during the 'Stop The War Coalition' Mass Protest Rally held on March 15 2008 in London. It marks the 5th anniversary of the invasion of Iraq. Over 50,000 people rallied in Trafalgar Square to protest the continued occupation of Iraq and Afghanistan, the on-going siege of Gaza, and the threats of attack on Iran.

The rally started at Trafalgar Square where inspirational speeches were given by politicians, activists and film makers (see my other videos). After the rally we marched down Whitehall past Downing Street and the Houses of Parliament and on to Westminster Bridge. After crossing the Thames we continued along the river to Lambeth Bridge and crossed that to head towards Parliament Square. The loop across the two bridges is a distance of around 2 miles. Whilst the tail end of the demo was still joining Westminster Bridge the front of the march had already completed the loop and was seen returning from Lambeth Bridge. The protesters had literally surrounded parliament. At Parliament Square people gathered to hear a few more speeches from the Stop the War podium and other independent makeshift podiums.

Thanks to anyone whose image I've used and also Rage Against The Machine! A lot of people didn't know about this global event held in many cities around the world due to the Propaganda mainstream news, but we are, as in Tony Benn's words 'the conscience of humanity'.

That's a pretty closed-minded view of the people of this country 'NowPleaseReadThis'. I agree with you it's a sign of the times that the majority are more interested in mindless junk, a response to the neo con agenda perpetrated through the mass media. Every country deserves good government, even those that have been lied to so many times that the truth becomes blurred. This is only one video of thousands on the net carrying similar messages; change can happen, but it will take time.

You've obviously not done your research and been sucked in by the propaganda offensive. I will never be grateful for those soldiers fighting in the middle east in 'our' name, they have no right to be there, they are invaders and are occupying a foreign country, they are the terrorists! The war is a crime against Peace of the sort Nazi Generals were prosecuted at Nuremberg! Iraq posed NO threat to world peace before the war...Bush's' Imperial Grand Strategy has made the world far more dangerous!

Al-Qaeda is not an army, it's a rough conglomeration of terrorist cells held together with US oil money from the Bin Laden family. The US attacks nations INDISCRIMINATELY. That "collateral damage" you mentioned is thousands of innocent lives, massacred in a false war against a false enemy. Both sides kill civilians for political causes; neither apologises.

And again, liberal/conservative is left/right, it's not a real divide, it's a fantasy for children to play politics in.

Islam is a political force, and has an active military, namely Al-Qaeda that is currently active in more counties that any NATO, or American force. Unlike US military action, that causes collateral damage, Islam specifically targets, and kills civilians. Name one conventional land battle that fought by Al-Qaeda, Hamas.

Europeans tend to be late to the fight, but when they awake form this liberal comma that the are in I cannot imagine a better group of people to be on my side.

Lets take a look at Islam's History for a second, and compare it to the US.

Islam still practices Slavery. Of the 20 million people believed to be enslaved in places like Africa, Asian, and India, in almost all cases, Islam is the controlling force, not Christians, and not Israel, but you, Muslims.

I never said you were a European. I don't know WHAT you are. An escaped lunatic, maybe, who cares. I'm British. I care about my country. I care about not being taxed in order to kill innocent people. I care about my civil liberties and the freedoms my parents enjoyed. I don't care about war against any religion, creed, or other form of collectivism. I just want my life and liberty, like most of the protesters. I don't think we're asking for much.
