WHAT, one of the oddest of horror movie titles, also contains a long list of almost all fake production credits. This film was seen little during its theatrical run, and appeared on American television in 1964 heavily edited, but still controversial partially due to the choppy editing.
WHAT features the distictive artistic perspective of director and special effects maestro Mario Bava, and ranks among his most picturesque and tense films of the 1960s. While this movie moves along very slowly by today's standards, it is extremely relaxing and enjoyable to watch this wrapped in a warm blanket on an overcast fall morning before the household begins to stir.
