Important: Frontal crash test ratings can be compared only among vehicles of similar weight.

Test details:

The Nissan Maxima was redesigned for the 2004 model year.

Restraints/dummy kinematics — Dummy movement was well controlled. During rebound, the dummy's head hit the inflated side curtain airbag. The dummy continued to rebound into the seat without its head coming close to any stiff structure that could cause injury.

Injury measures — Measures taken from the head, neck, chest, and both legs indicate low risk of injuries to these body regions in a crash of this severity.

  • I would rather NOT be in a Honda or Toyota, this is obviously a safe car and a very nice one. Honda or Toyota have nothing on the Maxima!

  • The A pillar in this model appears much stronger than in the previous model that's for sure.

There is this patented design by Honda, it's a pretty big deal so you should check it out. It's called the ACE body structure. ;) Not saying this car isn't safe, just saying that patent gives some objectivite credibility to his statement.

  • Am I the only one who thinks that this is hilarious?

  • they wasted an awesome looking maxima! =( RIP

  • @keaudretoler They rarely hurt people if restraints are used properly. The seat belts and airbags work together, one is not a replacement for the other.

  • why do airbags hurt people instead of help them

  • Nissan is japanese Volvo!

  • @alexkvaskov Nissan works here, you'd walk away. You can even get out through the passenger side in this car.

  • hmmmm is this the same for the maxima hybride

  • @dasheekeejones its a dummy dummy

  • who cares best pick! i just bought one of these!
