Oranos was Gaia's SON and spouse. Oranos ruled over the universe before kronos. Tatarus was actually Gaia's uterus, and Oranos locked up, not his Titan children, but his other children the heka gigantes and Cyclopes's.
Yes it caused Gaia great pain, so she rallied up her Titan children to overthrow Oranos, but they were scared. Only Cronos stepped up to do the deed.
He and his brothers grabbed hold of Oranos and Kronos castrated him, ending his rule.

Kronos is father of Zeus,Hades and Poseidon.And Kronos once feared the prophecy that,one of his sons will overtrhow him and lock him in Tartarus.Oranos,who is the father of Kronos,spawned the Titans,and some were abominations,corrupted,evil and thirsding for domination above the human realm.So Oranos build Tartarus in the ,,belly'' of Gaia,his wife and sister,and locked the foul Titan abominations in the Tartarus.Locking them inside,Oranos caused Gaia much pain.But one evil Titan remained free..
