  • thank you SO much for uploading this! I am in love with the both of them doing these two songs. thank you, thank you, thank you!

  • @AtLastOnTheGround You don't get what they meant in this production. Read the NYT Review of it, it's based in an insane asylum and the inmates are retelling the story, hence why its only one set, limited props, no scenery-strange costumes actors and musicians onstage. No one gets this show...

  • @RemusandNymphadora1 The player at the piano acts as conductor as they have the score in front of them. There's a small mirror placed at the piano to assist in this. It's all a directorial approach to a piece that is often remounted as the same literal, industrial setting. Good on Doyle for at least trying something new.

  • Perhaps it's because the orchestra is so small (more like an ensemble, really) but the music seems very disjointed and lacks power. There were even some moments of complete silence. I felt like that took away from the build of the song as a climactic moment.

I also felt like having Mrs. Lovett downstage of Todd picking up his clothes as he was perched on that ladder thing was distracting and took our attention away from Sweeney. He also didn't look particularly comfortable up there. =/

  • @ThePitchFinder

Actually, I think it's Doyle who didn't get it...

  • My principal looks quite a bit like Michael Cerveis... Needless to say I never get in trouble...

  • Good idea. Bad execution. And I liked Epiphany better as a climactic song than a rant.

  • haha patti's legs! :D

  • I loved this, but I think the musicians shouldn't be the actors and I hate how there's no longer the pit in the front with the orchestra. How else are th actors supposed to know what they're doing and if they're doing it right if they can't see the conducter? Was there even a conducter here?

  • i like this version of sweeney todd .... there is very little set and props.....it lets the story tell itself thru the actors

  • Way to destroy an epic piece of theater with crappy direction and actors playing instruments...
