@Pixelbuddy Any of those kind of questions are better directed towards Brian. I know very little about the actual post of the film. I wasn't expecting the shutter speed or strobe effect myself. Maybe it was to add a lil sumthin sumthin to the overall atmosphere of the film. Automaton Transfusion did the same thing. i found it to be quite distracting. But as far as your review being "harsh", I wouldn't worry about it. Honesty is the best thing you can do in a DVD review.
Happy Holidays!

I didnt like the movie till the zombies started to attack the fortress, after that it was awesome. I loved the gore effects and monsters. The worst part of it was the editing and poor acting and the first hour was boring and none of the characters could be invested in. The audio was bad like in Fetus, but I put the treble all the way up and I could hear well enough. Ide give it 2 1/4 out of 5 because of the stuff I liked.

thanks, now time for some Death Metal
Hey this is Brian from Morbid Vision Films. The shutter problem the movie experienced was from shooting 24 frames. It is supposed to simulate shooting on film. The problem I found out after shooting the movie is that 24p doesn't handle movement well (?!?) The worst part is that it didn't really show up on the raw footage. But once you edit and burn onto dvd, it really shows. So I tried to up the production value and got screwed by shit technology. Sorry to everyone that can't get past it.

@lynxvosmia Hey Brian! I thought that might have been the problem. I'm sorry this review came out so harsh, I was worried it came out too negative after watching it. But the film was still a lot of fun, it's just a shame that you had that problem. I was looking into ways to convert to 24 fps in an editing software, but a lot of people complain about similar things to what you described.
Hate to geek out here, but I'm a huge fan of your work! Can't wait to see what you guys do next

Rich Caron here again. Just got word that Bloodpigs won Goriest Film of 2010 by the readers of Rue Morgue magazine! Many thanks to anyone who voted for us!

Hi pixelbuddy! Rich Caron from Blood Pigs ( and Fetus). Thanks for your review of the film! Don't feel so bad about the review. It seems that the shutter speed effect used throughout the film was a concern for those wanting to enjoy the film (myself included-to a certain extent). Anyway, it did take about 3 years to complete the film, which was far longer than any of us expected. The gore was pretty outrageous utilizing compressors to jettison our gore to near stratospheric heights!

@MoulonStooge lol, hey Rich! Hope my review didn't seem to harsh. I did enjoy the film, but would have enjoyed it far more had it not been for the shutter effect. But my question is, was that effect added in post, or was it done in-camera? If it was done in post, it could potentially be fixed for a future release, but I have the feeling it was in-camera, given that there were certain parts where pixelation (a side-effect from using DV tapes) occurs. I have rewatched the film since this however
