Part 6: Railfanning the NS Pittsburgh Line along the beautiful Susquehanna River and the Juniata River during the late winter at Mifflintown, Pa.. I have also included some action from the Harrisburg-East Line in Annville, Pa. caught on on March 5, 2011.

Welcome to yet another in a series of "Winter 2011" videos from various locations along the Pittsburgh Line.

Previously, I've completed many day trips from Bethlehem, Pa. to visit the Pittsburgh Line. Today, I traveled out to Mifflintown, Pa. to finish highlighting this great railfan location, this time from the other side of the tracks.

As I've said previously, my intent is to showcase extremely nice railfan locations that can be found not far from main roads for the most part. In this sixth part of the series, I've captured several trains with a nice meet, plus a chance to show some of the other setup locations available to a visiting railfan.

In addition, on the trip home I've stopped by Annville Station on the NS Harrisburg-East Line for another glimpse of this nice Historical Train Station, and get a couple trains while there.

In Part 6, we start out at Mifflintown, Pa., on March 5, 2011. Although not "as" easy to get to as many of the other locations between Harrisburg and the "Middle Division", Mifflintown can be reached with a good map or a GPS you can get there no problem. Target the point at which PA Route 333 and PA Route 35 join in Mifflintown and you will be right at CP-Miffilin right above the old train station.

Trains arrive and depart via a quick curve on the west side of the station, and the east side has a nice straightaway with a view of the crossovers. The east side of Mifflintown is very similar to Lewistown as it has crossovers right in the station and has a very large cantilever signal bridge. This is a very choice location because of the setting. Railfans are offered a variety of setup locations both low at track level and up on Mowery Street (Rt.333) which overlooks the station and tracks. The "overlook" is what I will highlight in today's video.

Lighting can be very tricky at Mifflintown. Morning hours are difficult looking east. West is no problem at all. Activity is brisk all day. Overcast/diffused sunlight is the best at this location. Today it is overcast an exposure control is a must.
