Louvain- La- Neuve is a young city, built for students and academics who had to leave the historical city of Louvain. The city first saw light in the early seventies. It was build on the virtually uncultivated valley of Ottignies-Lauzelle (about 900 ha). Louvain- La- Neuve is rigorously planned, almost every inhabitant claims to be happy, everything seems perfect ... for the 'select few' that live in the Univer-city. The young city, however, is changing. Slowly and from whitin. Students are transforming their city, using a platform obtained from the University: their kots. They are more than just dorms, they are 'Kots- a- projet'. These kots plan events, parties, meetings, but they also shape the urban space of the city. Giving it an extra layer, pushing it towards an 'adult-hood'.
The students and other inhabitants still need time, but who knows what can grow from their cooperation...
