@kenp3L WRONG - you're speaking of the definition of the word as a NOUN. Dampening as a VERB means: 1.v. damp·ened, damp·en·ing, damp·ens
v.tr.
1. To make damp.
2. To deaden, restrain, or depress
3. To soundproof.
v.intr.
To become damp.
Read a dictionary before you make a complete ass of yourself on the internet while trying to fake intelligence.

@kenp3L I think he meant "dampin'-ing."

great lesson!

"First I'm gonna shred a bit here, and then do this thing with my hand and shred a bit there"
Genius. I just wish he spoke English.

such a genious
-
@kenp3L He said damping.
-
@kenp3L But then how is he going to keep it clean at high volume levels?!
-
@screenpuller That sort of sounds like something he would do.
"It really helps my tone."

Easy for you to say Eric! With those freaking alien fingers you have! I have these short handicapped fingers! LOL. I traded guitars with you once at a Musician's Friend in Knoxville, TN. Love your music man! Been listening to Bloom today. Rock on!
I have a minor correction touching upon word meaning. He said that one of his techniques is "dampening" when what he surely meant to say was "damping." The former means to apply moisture to and the latter means to progressively diminish oscillation (of guitar strings in this case). Surely he doesn’t want to get his guitar wet.
