Abstract Marketing and epidemics

The video is about the link between how epidemics develop and how products can become a hype or so called social epidemic. The video asks the question if there is a link and if the insight of how epidemics evolve can be used for marketing purposes.
The video is based on literature of Mckermick and Kermack on Epidemics and the book Tippingpoints of Malcom Gladwell. It becomes clear that there are mathematical formulations to predict populations of infected organisms. The formula states that the success of an epidemic depends on; the ability to infect, how likely is it that a healthy person gets infected. Transmissibility, the ability of the virus to use host carriers like insects to infect new persons. The two success factors of an epidemic are called the law of the few and the stickiness factor in the work of Malcom Gladwell. These insights will help the marketer to hype his product.

  • Ziet er goed uit! Geluid is alleen wat aan de zachte kant. Wie heeft het eigenlijk ingesproken?
