@BlindBitsProductions - Increasing TV resolution (or frame rate, etc.) doesn't improve the plots of TV shows.
Better games need better ideas, not new hardware. Most games don't use even half the CPU cycles on current generation consoles, and there's no connection between gameplay quality and code complexity.
In fact, you have it backwards. Independent developers need hardware stability, because they can't port their games to new consoles as quickly as big publishers.

@RFC3514 What has this got to do with TV standards? What I really was trying to get across is that the game developers are fucking us hard, because we're letting them.If we push for a new console, at least we'll get a few new innovative games before it goes back to being mainstream bullshit that we have now.I know that cpu's aren't everything, but they could be put to use if developers were willing to produce some really complex gaming engines. Not trying to start a flamewar dude.Just my opinions.

@BlindBitsProductions - Are you also going to complain that TV standards aren't changed every year? Or that mains current isn't changed every year? Guess what, people don't want to constantly replace everything. We produce enough trash as it is.
Faster hardware doesn't make bad games become better.
Oh, and console games are generally coded in C, same as PC games, so there is no need to "learn a new coding system". At most, they need to adapt to new controllers.

i think it's funny how this video shows the outside world. u people have been mindfucked 4 believing it.

@BlindBitsProductions - The number of CPU cores is almost irrelevant for games, because game engines don't need to do many parallel tasks. Run any modern game and you'll see 1-2 cores being used, and the rest just sitting idle. The only part of game engines that is easy to parallelize is the rendering, and that's done by the GPU, not the CPU (GPUs already have a lot more than 24 rendering units per chip).

@AnimatorRm - Yeah, there's something special about the sluggish and robotic movement of a gamepad stick when compared to the smooth and precise movement of a mouse. :-P
To be honest, the problem isn't the consoles (which, these days, use almost the same components as PCs), it's the fact that the makers still refuse to include a mouse or trackball as standard, so we have to play FPS games with controllers designed for platform games.

@spacecoke Yeah, but the PC is more expensive. I'm not hating on PC, just stating my opinion.
You can never get the same feeling while playing on PC as playing on console, there's something special about that.
And who really cares, the loading times are not really that long, I mean I'm not in a hurry while playing games. If one can't wait some seconds for the game to load, there's something wrong.

@TakerVC what sucks though is that the games have 7 year old tech. As gamers we all need to stop buying the shit that gets produced in about 3 months and demand a next gen console. A 24 core powered beast should be the bare minimum that gets released.
-
The only reason you can use a console for 7 years without having to upgrade a graphics card is because the big game companies know the dumb shit 8 year olds will get mummy to buy them whatever crap they produce, and it's easier to produce crap for crap, rather tha learning a new coding system for the next console. I'm not a PC fanboy, I have a PS3, 360, and a PC (NO WII). But I have to say, PC gaming is light years behind where it should be because consoles have over %50 of the gaming market.

it is not console tech that is holding PC's back, it is the dumb noobs who populate the console community who are, they want noob dumb streamlined games with regenerating health, big indicators on screen telling you what button to press, auto aim, magic radars telling you whre to go next and other noob freindly shit, the developers are just giving the majority who are noobs what they want. long time gamers who have funded these developers for 30 years get fucked in the ass.
i like p.c and consoles, i have a 580gtx and runs crysis 2 dx11 like its nothing, but sega rally split screen 2 player is a scream on the old saturn, i always say the p.c is the lord and the consoles are the waiters
