A bit of an update about the mistake experiment. It's going really well so far - thanks to everyone's comments :)

A few people left comments there saying it was a pointless exercise etc - but I don't think so ... I've found it helpful so far! If anyone is thinking of doing something similar in English, please send me the link. I'd be happy to help out and correct your English.

  • If you copy and paste something into YouTube, the apostrophes disappear :(

  • * can't

  • And here are a few tips about whether vs if:

You have to use whether after prepositions:

We talked about whether we should invite her or not.

    And before infinitives:

She cant decide whether to buy a new one now or wait until next year.

In some cases you can use either if or whether. But whether is a bit more formal.

Let me know whether you will be able to attend the conference.

Let me know if you can come to the party.

  • Sure. Thanks for the request :) I put some if/weather questions in todays show for you.

    And, yes, that's right.

  • Jake & Amir!!!! lol

  • Hi SARAH... im just wondering if you could possibly do one or some episodes which are dealing with the words WHETHER,IF and THOUGH!!?? Because i don't really get the right meaning or better when and how to use it propperly. Just as an idea. I really would appreciate it. If not i'll keep watching TDES though ;-) (was that right?)

    take care
