Heres Electrocution 250, a progressive/experimental/extreme instrumental rock/fusion/jazz band from Sweden. Peter Wildoer (TIME REQUIEM, DARKANE, SILVER SERAPH) (Drums), Todd Duane (Guitars and maybe, bass?), and Lale Larson (Keyboards) made this album... with a cartoonish and funny sound (it definitely has a humoristic tone), and its pretty much unique but at the same time it reminds some of the Looney Tunes frenzy themes. It was made in 2003 and so far it is their only album. For more information + free listening to one of their weird songs (Fletcher the Mouse, the funniest I think, lol) go there  http://www.progarchives.com/artist.asp?id=1877

Similar to: Spastic Ink, Artifex... hmm

The following two paragraphs concern the whole album, the last one is about this song.

What I liked about this album: Blend of styles, something different, rapid-rainbow laser coloured themes, enjoyable, some kind of virtuosity behind all this mess.

What I disliked about it: While it can be funny when listening to it for the first times, it gets boring in the long run due to the lack of deep ear perception pleasures, the appeal doesnt last long while the first impressions are were very positive to me. I first found it very heterogeneous, but now I kinda feel like its turning all around the same point. So yeah lets call that: fast-food music... it tastes good in your mouth, but it doesnt bring much afterward... thats why I have trouble qualifying it of progressive music, which I think is the extreme opposite of that, lol.

Sorry for that, but Nincompoop Scuttle is the less representative song of the cartoon music, its more proggy, traditionally structured, and it reminds me a lot of Acid Rain by LTE, but less profound.

  • hey, you forgot that this drummer is the current drummer (at least session drummer) for the NEW PESTILENCE RECORD!!! yeah!

  • Oh I didn't know pestilence record... but yeah I could have opened wikipedia and talk a lot more about it!

I am not reading that this Peter WIldoer guy also played drum for stuff I know well like Arch Enemy and Soilwork...

I don't think people read it that seriously so I didn't think it would have worth it... I just took the main lines at progarchives website... sorry, lol

  • I didn't know about Pestilence band*

  • creative, enjoyable, and a must sample more, lots of great music.

  • my current favorite song to play on the drums.... it's just so fun ^^

  • Lalle Larson is the keyboard player for the great progressive rock band, Karmakanic!

I'll be seeing them in a couple of months!

  • I only accuse Electrocution 250 of not making deep enough songs... where relistenability is low.

But I do enjoyed the first times spent listening to it.

  • Yeah Todd Duane is pretty much nothing else than shredding... lol

Me I got bored of Electrocution 250 cause I abused of the listening... but yeah downloading the album on e-music was fast enough for me, I am not patient when I discover something cool and I want more. (usually I am patient)

And yeah it do reminds me of some cartoon stuff... but as an instrumental gymnastic prog metal band, I would rather go with spastic ink, artifex, of maybe some Paul Gilbert stuff.

  • you could get it off from "guitarnine records" the regular version artwork.. but i got mine ordered via my local music shop is epic !!! reminds me of early animated cartoon music while hearing the awesome riffs and shreds by Mr Todd duane.

  • Yeah, the album name and the song's title are very original. + it is a versatile theme idea to justify extreme tech prog music.

Ow, extra bonus track? Personally I had a lot of trouble to get this regular version. I bought it on e-music... only place I could find it.

I thinki Electrotucion 250 is just a little side-project the 4 guys made for fun... they joined themselves and they dispatched right after, returning to their stuff.
