Today just before noon real estate agents with Reed Properties went to check on one of their homes they had just finished remodeling on Bowen Ave. near McHenry Ave. in Modesto, California. They have been dealing with a string of vandalism and theft with their rehab properties around town.
When they arrived they found that the front door to the property had been screwed shut in order to keep them out. Upon further investigation they heard noise coming from the backyard of the property.
One of the men jumped the fence and caught copper thief in the backyard of house. The suspect pulled a knife a on the man and threatened to stab him but, the real estate agent picked a brick up in self-defense and held his ground.
With the help of the other employees on the scene (about 5 in all) they held the man until police arrived to take him into custody without further incident.
Modesto News .org was there to bring you this footage of the police response along with this interview with two of the men who caught the copper thief in the act.
