ADA Final Phase
The A/DA Final Phase represents the latest in phase shifter technology. The FINAL PHASE is capable of producing a very broad range of sound colorations, dramatically enhancing the effect of any amplified musical instrument, voice or percussive instrument.
Electronic phasing takes place when a signal is divided, one half slightly delayed, then remixed with the original signal. This "delay" only occurs at certain frequencies and is referred to as phase shift (when the delay occurs at all frequencies, the effect is called flanging). When the phase shift of the delayed signal differs by 180 degrees relative to the original signal, a cancellation, called a notch, is generated when they are remixed. The FINAL PHASE generates 5 notches, which when moved back and forth across the sound spectrum, for example, produces the classic rotating speaker effect.
TECHNICAL INFORMATION
The 2009 Reissue A/DA Final Phase is designed by the original designers of the late 1970s A/DA Final Phases using very similar parts and exactly the same parts in the all-analog signal path. The differences between your Reissue Final Phase and the original A/DA Final Phases are:
- The Reissue has true "hardwire" bypass and the originals did not.
- The Reissue Overdrive (distortion) has been re-voiced to get a more modern sounding distortion, while keeping the original distortion tone and feel by backing off the new Overdrive Control. In effect we have added an "11" to the Overdrive. As you approach the maximum setting, the bass resonance increases and the highs become more complex.
- The printed circuit board (PCB) has a different layout, but is all through-hole design, using full-size carbon film resistors and precision polyester film capacitors for the highest quality signal path. There are no surface mount components in your Reissue Final Phase.

This thing has the looks and boy does it have a sound! I'm impressed! But then again, it is A/DA that we are talking here...their products are superb.
And regarding the jazz/fusiony part starting from 1:15 I'm pretty sure Herman did it as a sort of a tribute to a Jean-Luc Ponthy's song called Don't let the world pass you by, which is my absolute favorite from the Cosmic Messenger album. Mike Herman, you sir, are my favorite guitarist on youtube!

@videoJamHandy - you must mean the part starting at 1:15 is kinda jazz/fusiony. really it's more like 70s robin trower, not fusion or jazz at all really. This demo player prob is prob influenced by trower (as am I).

Just received mine today (along with the Flanger). I was expecting a MXR type of effect. I was completely wrong. It has that sound in there, but it's so much more. Leslie effects, Chorus & Vibrato effects and other sounds that defy description. I've spent about 3 hours with it, jotting down settings. It sounded great plugged into my Acoustic amp with a 12 string. It's built like a tank, a 110 power cord directly connected to it. I'm very happy with it. Still finding uses for it.

Very nice demo. I'm happy to hear these are now being made again. This phase shifter has that vitage "Mutron Phasor II" extra-wide sweep/feedback (and more). Very nice. Exactly what I am looking for in a phaser.
BTW, it sounds great with your smooth jazz/jazz fusion demo. Thanks a bunch.
