Dit kleine mannetje moesten ze opsluiten en de sleutel ver weg gooien om de maatschappij voor de toekomst tegen hem te beschermen!!!

Yes, you are right! This change is a difficult thing to happen. Inglehart says it requires a "generation change" - the death of the old, unreformable generation, and its replacement with the younger and more open-minded generations. Young people tend to be more accepting, right?
Look at the West: once a place driven by religious intolerance that caused the the crusades, the colonization of the America's and Catholic-Protestants wars, it gained wealth and became tolerant.

@ConradInternational Ok. But how will these levels of life's quality rise? They must be instigated(?) some how. And though I like how the theory sounds, I do not see it happening in all cultures. For instance, how will all the radical backbones of certain faiths or cultures like the taliban be changed? They seem to me like a forever excisting problem, whom hinders the good intent of tolerant islamics for example.

Not Nobel, but scientific :) Seriously! I study development and cultural studies, and an important theory I learned is that proposed by Ronald Inglehart. He suggest that with rising levels of the quality of life values within societies change. He refers to "Subjective Well-Being" - the better a person feels about his/her survival, the more tolerant he/she is. This theory applies to ALL cultures, including Islam.

@ConradInternational Nobel thinking, but even if they can change, and even if it changes, how will it benifit the people globally more than just dropping backwards thinking (religion allround) and all come to our senses and realize we are not the children of a god. But only a mere result of evolution by natures 'hands'. Most religion is all based on ancient sunworshipping. Try and look up why the Sun is called 'Sun'. Anyway i personnaly dont see the point in understanding beliefs can change. :)

@ModellMeister lol, we white guys also have barbaric history running around naked and hunting wild, just like other animals we are all the descendants of. Maar toch zeg ik, niet omdat het een zwarte is, ook als hij blank was geweest had ik hem een paar klappen gegeven.
-
Forgive the nigger, he knows not better. He comes from an uncivilized and barbaric land where they run naked and hunt zebras like a fucking animal

Maybe everybody has to collect infos from many different sources first so he can get the right image.

I disagree. Islam can change, as Christinity did. Once Europe was tribalistic in its mentality too, but with time it managed to civilizie itself and accept the values you talk about. Modern Islam is indeed backward, but the point is to understand that it can change - it will take time, but eventually it will change. Who knows? 100 years?

@Clichyabarbes22 As a Dutchman myself i would like to say: The feeling is mutual :)
Don't bad mouth Canada here, especially in the presence of the older generation. Besides it easy to make yourself useful in a society as friendly as yours that accepts our many quirks :P
I've been to Holland & I know Dutch people here in Canada. I admire them. They are very intelligent hard working people. They understand the value of a well ordered and well mannered society and they work at making it so. In Canada they are among the most successful of immigrants because they add so much to the society. I know these are generalization but in large measure they hold . What this little shit did is unforgivable. To be so arrogant & disrespectful to an older man is disgusting.

I think the scariest thing of all is that these Muslim communities have transported anti-Semitism back into Europe... It's their views about things like tolerance, about secularism and democracy and human rights that make Islam incompatiable with the West. Islam has a tribalistic mentality where anyone who isn't just like them is an enemy, and it is very sad.
We should be under no obligation to tolerate or respect a religion that lacks the most basic understanding of human rights and freedom.
