This is my PIC16F684 version of Vern Graner's Halloween Prop Dropper from the October 2009 issue of Nuts & Volts magazine. He used a Basic Stamp (BS1); I used a PIC to accomplish the same thing. Let me know if you want the PIC Assembly code! :)

  • Steve, because of the mechanical construction (which I can show you sometime), the DROP function simply spills the spool of string all at once (fast). The wind function goes much slower because the servo must wind it back up (rather than dumping the entire spool at once).

  • Very Nice, Aaron. How do you get it to drop so fast, yet wind back up slowly.
