Find the MP3 of this song on http://www.signalstudios.net/propaganda-music/
This song is also played in Toy Soldiers in the main menu along with other classic songs from the early 1900's (Maybe as early as the late 1800's)

*NEW* Lyric's!
Don't thank me for the lyrics all the credit for them goes to MagisterAkaiMagi

Deep down in his trench,
The private dreamed,
Of sailing on the sea,
Riding the waves! A wind at his face!

But when his feet ran up the shore,
That dream had turned quite pale!
Even if he did rather he flee,
He would wind up at the rail!

But even though his love of the sea,
Was never meant to be!
As he sits in his trench,
You can hear that poor lad sing!

"Yo Ho Ho! It's the Sailors Life for Me!
A foggy old trench,
A stone for a bench,
Is not my cup of tea!"

"Yo Ho Ho! Sailing light and free!"
If only it's barely a dream.

A soldier's life is no life,
For the son of a sailor's son!
Marching to here! Marching to there!

But when his company sailed to war,
His ship had not left the bay!
The boy became ill, ever so ill,
Even the seagulls turned away!

But even though his love of the sea,
Was never meant to be!
As he sits in his trench,
You can hear the poor lad sing!

"Yo Ho Ho! It's the Sailors Life for Me!
A foggy old trench,
A stone for a bench,
Is not my cup of tea!"

"Yo Ho Ho! Sailing light and free!"
If only it's barely a dream.

Thar she blows!

  • The last US WW1 vet died it sucks

  • @96FreedomFighter Really? How do you know? That really sucks....

  • I believe I got a part wrong, it makes more sense to say

"But when his fleet came up to shore"

    instead of my original

"But when his feet ran up the shore"

  • @MagisterAkaiMagi

I kept re listening to that part but honestly all i hear is "But when his fleet had left the shore" I might be wrong and i'm pretty sure i am because my ear's are jacked up from listening to my MP3 for so long >.<

  • lovie this song and im russian

  • @IlldariCouncil "But when his feet had left the shore"

  • this was my favorite song to listen to when playing Toy Soldiers :D

  • @IlldariCouncil I think it's "But when his feet had left the shore."

  • Sailor's Life for Me and She May Have Seen Better Days. What other songs? Speaking of which, who wrote She May Have Seen Better Days? Need to get away from this other guy that adds his own intro.

  • yep toy soldiers best game ever

  • Awesome tune but the lyrics are way off. One example - It's not "If only it's barely a dream" - The correct lyric is "If only his belly agreed!" It actually makes sense, and is even a bit funny.

  • @IlldariCouncil He died a long time ago...Amagine when the last WWII veterean dies. Then future generations will know who fought the second world war.

  • @IlldariCouncil Sorry for the late reply but it was on the news you can probably search it up whatever though the allies won and thats all that matters RIP Veterans of all wars

  • Thumbs ups if you knew this song before toy soldier!
