HDTVNEWS REVIEW: SHERLOCK HOLMES, a New Great Classic ! Thanks to the new modern Sherlock Holmes adventures embodied by an astonishing performance by Robert Downey, jr , enhanced by his co-star exceptional talent, by Jude Law.
Robert Downey Jr. reprises his role as the world's most famous detective, Sherlock Holmes, and Jude Law returns as his formidable colleague, Dr. Watson, in "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows."
Robert Downey,jr and Jude Law performances combine together to give out a wonderful new Classic !
You never get bored by the sherlock Holmes stories... with adventures that never ends. as in the james Bond films the MI5 stories, you travel around the world ! here , Holmes land into ever more dangerous adventures, [though always with his friend Dr Watson] , as it leads them, Holmes, Watson and Sim, across the continent, from England to France to Germany and finally to Switzerland...
instead of boredom this film makes you like the story... it is full of action [ as if in a james Bond film and world matter],
it is greatly made with tasteful talented photography [though too much modern from time to time as the special effect by times unecessary but still anchor the story as if in a Charles Dickens dream ]. Boredom is definitely not there to be found, as instead you look for the next film, the next set of adventures !
You feel you fully identify with the heroe, as any film is suppose to - but rarely do- Though you would rather not like to live like him ie be in the middle of his dangerous world (of action! of top security matter!) - But yet anyone identifies definitely with the great talented detective, ie would still love to have a life as free as he has and full of life, and wants...to be the successful sherlock Holmes who is above all smart and yet very distinguished, and yet smarter above anyonelse ....[as do charles Dickens characters who care for our world and others], and we would all know friendship as he does thanks to having as best friend the delightful and top expert Dr Watson...
Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law both reprise their roles as Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson in Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows. It just opened in Cinemas/theatres Dec 16-2011. And all agree that Downey Jr and Law have great onscreen chemistry together - which Downey attributes to Law's work ethic !
"Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows", is Sherlock Holmes who has always been the smartest man in the room... But only until now. Because it happens there is a new criminal mastermind at large—Professor Moriarty (Jared Harris)—and not only is he Holmes' intellectual equal, but his capacity for evil, coupled with a complete lack of conscience, may actually give him an advantage over the renowned detective.
It becomes suddenly high profile and government involvement, ie when the Crown Prince of Austria is found dead, the evidence, as constructed by Inspector Lestrade (Eddie Marsan), points to suicide. However Sherlock Holmes sharp and very smart spirit deduces that the prince instead has been the victim of murder — a murder that is only one piece of a larger and much more portentous puzzle, designed by one Professor by Moriarty.
Mixing business with pleasure, Holmes tracks the clues to an underground gentlemen's club, where he and his brother, Mycroft Holmes (Stephen Fry) are toasting Dr. Watson on his last night of bachelorhood. It is there that Holmes encounters Sim (Noomi Rapace), a Gypsy and a fortune teller, who sees more than she is telling and whose unwitting involvement in the prince's murder makes her the killer's next target. Holmes barely manages to save her life. Luckily, in return, -though reluctantly- she agrees to help him.
But the investigation becomes ever more dangerous, it leads Holmes, Watson and Sim across the continent, from England to France to Germany and finally to Switzerland. But the cunning Moriarty is always one step ahead as he spins a web of death and destruction —all part of a greater plan that, if he succeeds, will change the course of history. Review © 2011-12-20.
