@grandadpoppyable & @shariotoflove I don't really understand what kind of music you are listening to, but it isn't a lute at all. It's a harp played by Giovanna Pessi

@grandadpoppyable the basso is played with theorbo :)

Got it. Scott Pauley. A musical genius.

WHOS IS THE GENIUS PLAYING THE BASSO LINE?? This is an amazing Lutenist. Who is playing that Lute pls.? He or she dserves to be recognised here. Its was compsed to be a Lute. I mean the player in the Catham Baroque group. I looked it up to no avail.

YAY!!! I heard this live at a concert yesterday (performed amazingly) and fell instantly in love with it. During the interlude I asked the violinist if there were any recordings of it and there seemed to be not too many and almost thought that it was the first and last time I had heard it. I'm soooo glad that it's up here on youtube (and surprised that it was so easy to find!), thank you a million times for this upload!

great piece; very positive, very fresh.

A fine violinist; it's a shame though that the anachronistically large continuo group makes such a mess of it. The fiddling around in calm passages disturbes the whole layout of the piece. Also what's whith the messing about with the time at the beginnig? There is nothing in the score indicating that (there are other expression marks!). I doubt the 2 a-flats in 3:42-3:45 (clah with a in the bass; not in other ms!)
This piece of music is simply breathtaking. I thank you so very much for putting this on youtube.... I simply adore baroque music (especially italian) - and this epitomizes the very height of what beauty and purity this period of music produced. I also think this is hands down the greatest version of this music... I cannot help but listen to this endlessly... You have my sincere thanks again!

thanks fenberry. I noted that our musical taste is identical, i.e italian baroque. a touch of delicacy and musical mastermind. glad you liked it that much.

performed by Ricercar Consort.
conductor Philippe Pierlot.
solo parts played by François Fernandez.
his intonation never fails, and each phrase is shaped beautifully, no doubt it's the best performance ever, in my opinion.
