This week we chat up Hata Wahari, the newly-elected President of National Union of Journalist (NUJ) Malaysia.

Hata chronicles the reemergence of NUJ after a fairly subdued period and the freedom of press problem in our nation. He also puts out his thought on alternative media, and answers the question: do bloggers count as reporters?

NUJ is an organisation of working journalists formed on August 30, 1962 to represent the industrial, social and welfare interest of some 1,400 journalists.
