  • Thank you for all the kind words, and for the not so kind comments. If shooting fish in a barrel is as much fun as shooting these hogs, count me in. I was using a .270 Winchester for the shot. It was about 80 yards. This hog was taken in East Texas (Jasper County).

  • @mattybock Look at the new Texas outdoor annual. "A hunting license is required of any person, regardless of age, who hunts any animal, bird, frog or turtle in Texas (except furbearers, if the hunter possesses a trapper's license.) See Hunting Licenses and Permits. No license is required for nuisance fur-bearing animals, depredating hogs or coyotes. Non-residents under 17 years of age may purchase and hunt with the Youth Hunting License."

  • Ah, looks like a good helping of BACON, HAM, and SAUSAGE is in store! Fire up the grill!

  • @NerdHunter87 I think I can understand where that sentiment comes from, but you should go try to find hunting grounds in East Texas that would be similar to the places that (I presume) you go stalking. East Texas conifer forest is impenetrable with a lot of undergrowth - no trails, no shooting lanes unless you cut them (and they don't stay open for the length of deer season), and no enormous tracts of public land for you to roam around on. There are good reasons for baited ambush here.

  • very nice!!!!

  • Nice shot!!!!

  • Hey does anyone know if these critters have made it into Canada yet? If so, where?

  • Was the pig ever very nice to another man? It seems like it may have been a very nice pig, swine, as maybe it would occasionally give gifts to nurses or make appropriate phone calls on his best friend's birthday, or maybe the pig let an old woman have his seat on the bus one day, or maybe been very nice to others? If so, the pig was some sort of local hero who gave clothes to local starving children? The pig may have been nice even to one man, or woman, maybe by lighting a candle?

  • Man my dad an I been wantin to go feral hog huntin...we live in Iowa, an so far all I've heard of sightings that are close by is in missouri.

  • i think there should be a cheaper special license for feral hogs, maybe 10 dollars, hogs only, no bag limit, shoot 2 or you have to pay more next year for fishing/ regular hunting.
